- Faking an Anonymous Question
Do you want to create anonymous questions on Instagram? If you add questions to your IG Story using one of the built-in stickers, the person's username will appear next to their question, even if the prompt was edited to show "anonymous." Fortunately, there's a free app that makes it easy to get anonymous questions on Instagram. This wikiHow article teaches you how to use NGL to create truly anonymous questions as well as how to create a fake anonymous question sticker.
Things You Should Know
- To create a link for anonymous questions, use the NGL app.
- Link the app to your IG account, then paste the URL to an Instagram Story so anyone who sees the story can send you an anonymous question.
- Without the app, you can trick others into thinking you're getting anonymous questions by editing the original text.

1
Open NGL. This is a free app that you can get from the App Store or Google Play Store that will allow you to create a link for your Story that other users can tap to submit you truly anonymous questions.
- Get the app for iPhone & iPad and Android.
2
Tap Get Questions!. It's at the bottom of your screen.

3
Add your IG handle. This allows the app to send your IG questions from other users anonymously.
- You typically don't want to give out your Instagram password to avoid getting your account hacked. But this app doesn't ask for your password, which is better.
4
Tap Copy Link. You'll see it under the "Step 1" header.
5
Open Instagram. Tap the app icon that looks like a camera lens on a pink-to-orange gradient background.
- The "Share your link!" for "Step 2" may not always work, so the best option is to open Instagram yourself.
6
Swipe right, then upload or take a picture. Drag your finger from the left side of your screen to the right side and the Story Camera will open. Alternatively, tap the + icon and select Story from the menu dial.
- Tap the thumbnail icon in the lower left if you want to upload an existing picture, or press the capture button to take a new picture.
7
Tap the smiley face icon and select the link sticker. The smiley face icon is in the top right corner of your screen and will open all the stickers you can add to your Story.
- Tap the sticker that says "Link" to add the link you copied from NGL.
8
Paste your URL. Tap and hold the field and you'll be able to paste from your clipboard.
9
Tap Done and post your Story. You can tap Your Story if you want to quickly share your story with all of your followers or tap Close Friends to share it with specific people.
- Anyone who sees the story can tap the link to see your NGL page where they can submit questions anonymously.[1]
- Whenever someone sends you a question, you'll be notified by the NGL app. You can then tap Reply to create another Instagram Story for that question.
- Although the app is meant to create anonymous questions, you can pay a weekly fee to get hints about who sent you the question.

1
Open Instagram. Tap the app icon that looks like a camera lens on a pink-to-orange gradient background.
- Use this method if you don't want to use a 3rd party app but are still interested in getting questions. Since the username is submitted along with the question, anonymous questions aren't possible using the Instagram Story tools, but you can make others think they are anonymous.
2
Swipe right, then upload or take a picture. Drag your finger from the left side of your screen to the right side and the Story Camera will open. Alternatively, tap the + icon and select Story from the menu dial.
- Tap the thumbnail icon in the lower left if you want to upload an existing picture, or press the capture button to take a new picture.
3
Tap the smiley face icon and select the question sticker. The smiley face icon is in the top right corner of your screen and will open all the stickers you can add to your Story.
- Tap the sticker that says "Questions" to add the question prompt.
4
Edit the text. By default, the text for the question sticker says, "Ask me a question" but you can make other people think that their usernames are hidden by writing "Ask me an anonymous question."
5
Tap Done and post your Story. You can tap Your Story if you want to quickly share your story with all of your followers or tap Close Friends to share it with specific people.
- Anyone who sends you a question will not be anonymous; their username will appear next to their question.
