The latest WoW expansion, Dragonflight, has nearly arrived, bringing with it a deluge of new story content, a new race/class, new mounts, and a whole new continent to explore!

This page acts as a comprehensive breakdown of when the expansion arrives, as well as everything coming with Dragonflight.

WoW Dragonflight Expansion Release Date

The Dragonflight expansion arrives on November 28th, 2022. It is currently available to pre-purchase and will be available on Mac and Windows via Battle.net.

Wow Dragonflight Pre Patch Phase 1 Release Date

Pre Patch Phase 1 of the World of Warcraft Dragonflight expansion was released on October 25th, 2022.

During Pre Patch Phase 1, you can experience brand new quality-of-life features included in the Dragonflight expansion.

These Pre Patch Phase 1 features include:

• A revamp of the Talent System
• Updated and customizable UI and HUD
• New Accessibility Features
• Introduction of the new PvP Rated Solo Shuffle game mode
• Rogue, Priest, and Mage Classes are newly available for all Races to play.

WoW Dragonflight Pre Patch Phase 2 Release Date

Pre Patch Phase 2 of the World of Warcraft Dragonflight expansion will release on November 15th, 2022.

The new race/class Dracthyr Evoker will be available to play during Pre Patch Phase 2. This Pre Patch will also introduce The Forbidden Reach, a new starting zone for the Dracthyr Evoker race.

A new Badlands dungeon will also become available during Pre Patch Phase 2 of Dragonflight. Travel into the Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr dungeon to discover an ancient titan facility on a quest in search of the Discs of Norgannon.

WoW Dragonflight Primal Storms Event

Along with Pre Patch Phase 2, the Primal Storms Pre Patch Event will also launch on November 15th, 2022. During the Primal Storms event, you can participate in new quests and world events fighting against the "Primalists". Collect Primeval Essences dropped from imbued creatures to exchange for rewards.

Rewards for Primal Storm include high item-level gear and time-limited items such as the Against the Elements Feat of Strength achievement, Bag of Furious Winds toy, and the Unstable Elemental Confluence heirloom trinket, which will not be available to redeem after Dragonflight launches on November 28th.

WoW Dragonflight New Continent

The Dragon Isles are the ancestral home of the various Dragonflights of Azeroth. During the Great Sundering, magic drained from the Isles and went dormant. As you explore the Isles and the magic reawakens, both allies and enemies alike will begin emerging as well.

With new locations like The Waking Shores, Ohn'ahran Plains, The Azure Span, Thaldraszus, the Forbidden Reach, and much more, there will be plenty of gorgeous and deadly new areas for you to explore!

WoW Dragonflight New Race/Class

This latest expansion is adding something never seen before in WoW; a playable race-and-class combo: the Dracthyr Evoker.

Dracthyr Evokers are able to freely switch between two customizable forms - a humanoid appearance, and a fear-inducing draconic form. They receive a brand new starting experience, where they can still align with the Horde or the Alliance.

They can fight from mid-range with claws and fiery breath attacks (Devastation) or use the life-giving magic of renewal to bolster their allies (Preservation). Whichever path you follow, you can charge up your attacks by imbuing them with magic, releasing them at the perfect time to maximize their effects.

WoW Dragonflight New Mounts

In this expansion, you'll be able to master the art of Dragonriding. As you explore the Dragon Isles, you can find 4 new Drakes - each acutely customizable to make your mount truly unique. More customization options for your Drake will unlock the more that you explore the Dragon Isles and complete the challenges within, with options including snout, horns, tails, armor, and more!

Different from other flying mounts currently in the game, you and your Drake will master new maneuvers over time. You can improve your Dragonriding skill by seeking out ancient glyphs around the island. You can dive down and gain momentum, and perform aerial tricks.

WoW Dragonflight Gameplay Updates

New Talent System

The Talent System has been updated for Dragonflight, allowing players more options for leveling as opposed to predetermined paths. This has come in the form of two Skill Trees.

One tree focuses on class utility while the other focuses on specialization and the expression of your role whether that’s doing damage, tanking, or healing. You'll note in the image below that shows off the two new Skill Trees, some on the left are already unlocked, this being a helping hand in regards to the spec that you have chosen ahead of time for your character.

Profession Revamp

Professions have been around for a long time, but the devs are continuing down the path of self-expression by reworking the Profession System.

Crafting Orders allow you to request for another player to craft something for you, even if you don't have the right skill or profession to do it yourself. You can ask someone who is right in front of you within the world, or you can visit a specific NPC, using an Auction House-like UI interface to send the order out.

Additional improvements is the addition of quality for both your crafted items and gathered reagents. The higher the quality, the stronger the item will be at its designated purpose. Crafting Specializations have been implemented, allowing you to earn specialization points in various ways; finding an old book, meeting a traveling hermit, etc.

As a Blacksmith, for example, to become an Armorsmith and you’ll be able to put points into that skill to become better at crafting all armor. This allows players within the same guild to specialize in varying aspects of a profession to add value to the guild.

New HUD/UI

UI and the HUD for WoW are rarely updated, but with Dragonflight the devs are allowing players to customize their HUD and move elements of the UI around. They are even taking into consideration players that opt to use add-ons, so everyone should be able to create a HUD layout that fits their needs.

You can also save, name, and switch between various layouts that you have designed, so you can fully tailor your gameplay experience and what is visible to you on-screen from moment to moment!

WoW Dragonflight Additional Features

Alongside this tsunami of new content, a few additional features are worthy of note:

• New Level Cap - You can reach Level 70 once Dragonflight goes live!
• New Dungeons - You'll be able to fight to reclaim Neltharus, the stronghold of the black Dragonflight, explore previously unknown chambers of Uldaman, defend the Life Pools of the red Dragonflight, and more!
• New Raid - Venture into the ancient prison of the Primal Incarnates before their malevolent power can be unleashed against the Dragon Aspects!
